Abstract

The effort to develop the BaBar reconstruction system includes
developers spread across the US and Europe, using several different
UNIX platforms. To allow them to work independently, yet still
make sure the resulting code forms a coherent whole, we have
devised a code management and release control system consisting of
technical tools, procedures and responsible people. Elements
of this system are being considered for adoption at a number
of experiments around the world. This talk presents the
how the detailed components function as an overall structure, and
how that interacts with how our developers work. It also
summarizes the present experience, including strengths
and weaknesses.
