Welcome to the website of the former Helmholtz Young Investigator Group

DESY & Humboldt University in Berlin, 2008-2013

"Top as Key to LHC Physics" was a junior researchers' group in experimental particle physics. Between April 2008 and March 2013 the group was situated at Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY), Germany's national particle physics laboratory, a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers, and worked in close collaboration with Humboldt University in Berlin. The work of the group was funded by the Helmholtz Association's Initiative and Networking Fund, by DESY, and by the DFG Research Training Group 1504.

The group participated in the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider LHC at CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics. The group was embedded in the DESY ATLAS group. The focus of the group was on the physics of top quarks at the highest available energies and on operating and developing silicon detectors.

If you are interested in working on top physics and/or silicon detectors at DESY and HU Berlin, please find more information on these groups' websites (DESY, HU Berlin).
