Rules for sending mail

• Do not send HTML formatted mails

• Make good use of the Subject: line

• Prefer sending simple ASCII text mails over formatted email using propietary formats

• Send pointers to huge documents instead of the documents

  • Assume 1MB file in home dir gets sent:
  • Stored in homedir, in Fcc:, in backup, same for receiver
  • Will result in 4MB on disk, 4MB on tape

• Keep individual mails small (limit 5MB)

• Keep mails to mailing lists even smaller
